Us ladiezzz want that soft, glowing, tightened skin for our faces. You know, that “I just woke up like this” look.
The, “I don’t have to wear make up because my skin is flawless,” look. If you’re looking for that skin, it has a lot to do with what you’re putting INTO your body and what you’re putting ONTO it. Including a routine before and after sleep can really make a difference in the texture and appearance of your skin.
A beefed up beauty routine would include a gentle and natural cleanser, clarifying toner, and light moisturizer. Using a cream used to worry me because I felt like my skin was very problematic and oily so it didn’t NEED a moisturizer. WRONG! Moisturizing your skin with a NATURAL and LIGHT cream can actually help even out your skin’s natural oil production. When I was a teen, I battled acne for a bit and used A LOT of astringents. The ones that almost stung when you put them on your face and smelled like straight up alcohol. Not only do those astringents severely interfere with your body’s oil productions, they over dry and contain ingredients that strip your face of EVERYTHING…including the good stuff.
I started buying natural and homemade toners, face washes, and creams on Etsy and my skin has never looked this natural and radiant. Not to mention, I included clay masks and face scrubs into my weekly routine to give my skin an extra boost. Check out some of my own homemade face scrubs that I use throughout the week on Siren’s Song Bath Scrubs!
Try making your own toner spritzers with some of the following recipes! All ingredients are then controlled by YOU. Natural is the way to go. Put them in a spray bottle and spritz some on a cottonball and VIOLA!
Herbal Honey Toner:
- 4 oz. herbal water or distilled water (rose water is a great herbal water)
- 2 tablespoons witch hazel
- 1 teaspoon honey
- 5 drops Lavender essential oil
- 3 drops Rosemary essential oil
Put all the ingredients in a spritzer bottle and shake well before using. It’s natural for ingredients to separate. Honey is GREAT for problematic skin as it has antibacterial in property.
Herbal Milk Toner:
- 4 oz. milk
- 2 tablespoons of dried herb of choice
- Herbs for Oily Skin: Rosemary, Peppermint
- Herbs for Normal Skin: Chamomile, Parsley
- Herbs for Dry Skin: Lemon Balm, Fennel
Combine all ingredients and cool. Place on a cottonball and spread on face.
Toners help clean pores and tightened your skin. Use your toners on your neck, too, to smooth it out!
Okay, get glowing now.
