PowerHouse Purchase: Apple Cider Vinegar.

Apple Cider Vinegar is one of the oldest home remedies around and used in a variety of ways.  Apple Cider Vinegar is made from fermented apples and is cloudy in appearance.  The cloudiness comes from the raw, unfiltered, and beneficial enzymes/trace minerals that are great for digestion, hair, skin, cleaners, and more!  This stuff is pretty inexpensive and can be used in a number of rooms in your home.  Check out some of the uses for this powerful addition to any kitchen.

Why You Should Own This Shtuff:

1.)  Beauty Routine:  Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) is a natural astringent.  Looking to get glowing skin and clear up blemishes?  This will do the trick!  Mix one part ACV to two parts water.  I’ve placed it in a spray bottle to quickly spritz on my face, and I’ve also used it on cotton balls to just dab on my face in problematic areas.  ACV can also be used to clear up warts.  The natural acidity will kill fungi and stop warts at the root.  Want long, shiny hair?  Do an ACV and water rinse!  Chlorinated water can be tough on strands, so after swimming, rinse hair with one part ACV to every two parts water.  This golden liquid can also be used as a mouth rinse that will actually benefit your gums, tongue, AND whiten your teeth!  If you’re able to, you can even swallow it after swishing it around for a while to aid in digestion.

2.)  Ingesting ACV:  Apple Cider Vinegar is known for its assistance with digestion.  My stomach tends to be on the acidic side and even though ACV is technically in the acid family, when ingested into your body it becomes an alkaline.  Alkalinity is important in battling too much stomach acid which causes indigestion, upset stomach, and other tummy problems.  ACV helps balance your body’s natural pH levels.  Try mixing a tablespoon of ACV with a cup of water on an empty stomach in the morning.  “Cut it” with some honey to help it go down….it is REALLY INTENSE.  I “get my Apple Cider Vinegar on” by making my own salad dressings!  I’m already a huge fan of vinaigrettes, so this works perfectly.  Try out my Raspberry Vinaigrette at the bottom of the page!  Also, if you’re a vegetable juicer, adding ACV to your drinks also aids in liver detox.

3.) Around the House:  Have you ever had those nasty, annoying drain flies??  Put a little ACV in a cup or bowl and sit it next to your sink.  They, literally, will dive right in and end their own lives.  Good riddance.  ACV can also be used to kill pesky weeds in your garden.  Add it to the spray bottle much like the above listed natural toner in Beauty Routine and spray it around your garden to kill the weeds and curb any rodent-like pests’ appetites for YOUR veggies or flowers.  Looking for a more natural way to clean your counters?  Create the ACV/Water mixture and spray it on and wipe it down.

This is a potent addition to any kitchen or bath, and you will be amazed by how it will improve the way you feel both inside and out!
